Catch the action of Fishing 411 with Mark Romanack this week on The Sportsman Channel. Host Mark Romanack takes us to Northwest Ontario after the king of fresh water fish. Mark is on Eagle Lake, fishing out of Andy Myers Lodge. Eagle Lake has produced the world record musky twice, and Mark is hoping for a hat trick as he jumps in the boat with Veteran Guide Scott Jaeger. The two anglers cast a combination of jerk baits, spinners, and topwater lures to entice the big fish. Although the bite is a little slow, the pair manages to land four fish, two of them pushing the magic fifty inch mark. Lot’s of big fish action this week on Fishing 411 with Mark Romanack. Athens, Alabama — American Bass Anglers announces that Early Times Whisky will sponsor the 2009 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series and be the Official Whisky of American Bass Anglers.
As a part of this sponsorship, they also announced a special series of events that will be held in conjunction with bass tournaments at 5 locations in the southern US in 2009. The Nevada Department of Wildlife is holding a three-day progressive fly tying class the evenings of March 17-19. The class will start with a basic fly and progress to a more advanced fly by the third class. If you always wanted to learn how to make your own flies or learn how to match the hatch this class will teach you the basics. The class is designed for beginning to intermediate level fly tiers and is free to all participants. Class is limited to the first 15 persons who enroll.

Frankfort, Kentucky – For years, anglers at Kentucky and Barkley lakes sought crappie in spring by jigging baits around drop-offs, fishing with minnows in shallow brush and probing stake beds with grubs. While these traditional methods worked well for white crappie, they are not nearly as effective nowadays because of the growing population of black crappie in both lakes.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Fisheries Section need helps from Alabama anglers in its quest to gain information about the southern walleye.
Numbers of this distinct strain of walleye have diminished to the point that Fisheries biologists have initiated a plan to try to locate fish and establish a brood stock at Marion Fish Hatchery.
