Passing of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Sam Hamilton

Sam D. Hamilton, the director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and 30 year veteran of the agency, passed away on February 20 at the age of 54. “The Interior Department family has suffered a great loss with the passing of Sam Hamilton,” said Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.

Catch a Rainbow on Spring Break

ATHENS-More than a thousand rainbow trout are swimming in the pond at The Nature Center in Tyler, and young anglers are invited to come catch them during spring break March 8-11.

Fishing will be allowed Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Youth must be supervised at all times by an adult. Five rainbow trout and one channel catfish may be kept by each participant. No fishing license is required, and the event is free. You need not pre-register to fish.
