The 33rd annual Take-A-Kid Fishing Trip will be held on Sunday June 6th in Clayton-1000 Islands, NY. The event is sponsored by the Clayton Fishing Guides Association in cooperation with the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. The contest is open to all youngsters ages 10 through 15 on June 6th, regardless of where you live.

The show will debut this Saturday, April 3 at 7:26 a.m. (EST) on ESPN2 between World’s Greatest Fishing Show and Barclays Soccer. The second viewing of the first mini-show will air on ESPN2 Sunday, April 4 at 6:26 a.m. (EST) between Pirates of the Flats and World’s Greatest Fishing Show.

Spiny Lobster Season Closes Tomorrow

The recreational and commercial harvest season for spiny lobster in Florida waters closes on April 1. The regular season will reopen on August 6.

The special two-day sport season for recreational harvesters of spiny lobster will occur on July 28 and 29 this year.

Atlantic Vermillion Snapper Recreational Season Opens Tomorrow

The recreational harvest season for vermilion snapper in Atlantic Ocean waters off Florida opens on April 1. Recreational fishing for vermilion snapper has been closed in Atlantic state and federal waters since November 1 to reduce overfishing and help increase the population of vermilion snapper.

Alabama’s Bonner Point Public Ramp Reopens Tomorrow

The Bonner’s Point public boat ramp on Lake Jordan in Elmore County will reopen Thursday April 1, after months of renovation work. This project was funded through a Sportfish Restoration Grant, which is supported by excise taxes on fishing equipment and outboard motor fuel. Additional funding was generated through the sale of state fishing licenses.

Wonder Boys Reclaim Collegiate ATU Invitational Title

Russellville, Arkansas – The fifth annual Arkansas Tech University Invitational attracted more than 120 collegiate anglers from across the country to compete for the 2010 title at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Arkansas. A different look for the Bassmaster Open

A DIFFERENT LOOK: There’s change in the air surrounding the Bassmaster Central Open tour: The roster for the April 8-10 season opener on Texas’ Lake Amistad includes 20 women.

Women have always been eligible to compete in Bassmaster Opens, and several women have done so. One, Pam Martin-Wells, the second woman to qualify for a Bassmaster Classic, has been entering Opens as a pro for three seasons. While 20 women out of 400 entrants may not constitute a core demographic shift, it’s a noticeable change from the circuit’s predominantly male makeup.

Workshops Offer Chance to Get Involved in Fisheries Management

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department-Coastal Fisheries Division is hosting a series of workshops on how to get involved in the fisheries management process. The staff will provide an overview of why fisheries are managed, how state and federal fisheries management works, which agencies are involved and what each of their roles is and information on upcoming fisheries issues. The goal of the workshops is to provide attendees with the knowledge and understanding needed to become successful participants in the fisheries management process.
